Since the March public forum, the Transform Leatherhead team have made progress on a number of projects and there are upcoming opportunities to get involved and speak to the team.
Councillor Kendrick, Cabinet Member for Projects said, “I am delighted that my portfolio as a Cabinet Member includes Transform Leatherhead. It is important that Transform Leatherhead makes a real and lasting difference to the town and surrounding areas, significantly improving the retail and leisure offering for all. The latest progress on our High Street Improvement Study and the breadth of activities in Leatherhead town centre are encouraging and we will ensure that Transform Leatherhead continues to be sufficiently ambitious.
“It is great to see that businesses in Leatherhead, as well as Dorking and Ockley, have been nominated for a Muddy Stilettos awards.
“Following on from another successful Leatherhead Drama Festival, there are many reasons to spend time in Leatherhead in the coming weeks. The High Street is hosting a Carnival on 27th May and the Swan Centre is running its popular children’s activities during half-term. BBC Surrey is bringing its bus to Leatherhead on 30th May and the much loved Duck Race is taking place on 9th June.”
Our expert consultants Arcadis have been working on the vital High Street Improvement study. Following a productive focus group with key stakeholders in the High Street in March we will be returning to the group in June to review the options, before inviting everyone to have their say on the proposals.
There will be two public exhibitions, 4th July at the Leatherhead Institute and 6th July at the Swan Centre. You can also take part online from 1st to 22nd July atwww.transformleatherhead.com
Alongside the consultation in July we will provide a detailed update on the progress of the Traffic Modelling Study and the next steps.
As part of our High Street Improvement project, the Transform Leatherhead and Economic Development teams have partnered with Clockwork City, an experienced, digital business development and place management specialist, to introduce Digital Business Skills training for Leatherhead retailers and other businesses.
