Supporting Local Businesses with Free Christmas Parking

Mole Valley District Council’s (MVDC) car parks are free to park in all day on Saturday 14 and Saturday 21 December. There is also free parking in Dorking’s car parks on Friday 20 December from 3pm.

No tickets are needed during these Christmas free parking periods.

MVDC selected these dates to encourage people to do their Christmas shopping locally. Free parking was also available throughout Mole Valley on Saturday 7 December and during the recent late night shopping events in Ashtead, Bookham and Leatherhead.

Councillor Clayton Wellman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, said, “We want to encourage everyone to spend more time in our towns and villages in the run up to Christmas. There is such a great range of shops to explore, and characterful cafes, pubs and restaurants to try. Our many independent shops are perfect if you’re looking for a present that is a bit different.

“With the rise of online shopping, these are challenging times for high street businesses, so we must all do what we can to support them.

“Don’t forget that parking is free on Sundays all year round.”

There are posters advertising the free parking days on MVDC’s parking machines. If money is accidently inserted on the free days, it will be divided between the Chairman’s charities, which this year are Leatherhead Youth ProjectPSDS and Belong.
