Stay Safe at Home Mole Valley Life’s Community Safety Day 18 March 2020 CANCELLED.

It is with regret that we are no longer holding the Mole Valley Life Community Safety Day on Wednesday 18 March 2020. This is due to a low expression of interest. We would like to apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience this will cause. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

On Wednesday 18 March Mole Valley’s older residents are invited to attend a free community event to learn more about staying safe in their own home and when out and about. This will be a chance to hear updates on key safety advice from the emergency services, how to avoid being scammed and to understand which services are available to stay safe and independent.  The guest speakers will include representatives from Mole Valley Life, Surrey Police, Surrey Fire Services and British Transport Police.

Places are bookable by ringing on 01372 204500 and transport can also be arranged if required.

Mole Valley Life’s Community Safety Day will take place at Dorking Halls, in the Martineau Hall from 10.00 – 12.00pm.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for all attendees.

Councillor Hazel Watson, Cabinet Member for Community said: “This community event is a great opportunity for residents to obtain up to date information about how to help keep themselves safe from harm and fraud in their own home’.

We look forward to welcoming our senior members of the community and making this day useful and enjoyable for all.”

Neil Clarke, Crime Reduction Advisor from Surrey County Police said: ‘According to 2019 analysis by Age UK, official crime figures show that people over 65 become victims of fraud every 40 seconds. It’s so important to be informed to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim. All of Mole Valley Life’s services are focused on enabling vulnerable people to remain independent at home for longer’.

Mole Valley Life aims to improve the wellbeing, quality of life and independence of residents in Mole Valley. You can find out more about the services they offer at www.molevalleylife.co.uk.
