Leader of Mole Valley District Council, Councillor Stephen Cooksey said, “This week I would like to focus on wellbeing. Whilst everyone in Mole Valley is supporting the NHS by staying at home and supporting each other we must all ensure that where possible, we individually take some time out to look after ourselves.
“If you are online there are numerous websites and supportive groups that you can join to talk with others, or find out about virtual activities you can join in with, many of which are completely free of charge. Locally, these can be accessed easily by searching on Facebook and other popular social networking sites.
“If you are not online, or would like someone to talk to then there are services offering a telephone friend locally such as, the Surrey Community Helpline number 0300 200 1008 or you can contact the Samaritans on 116 123.
“There are local helplines available for those suffering from domestic abuse and for abusers who seek help to change their behaviour. Call 01483 776882 for Surrey Domestic Abuse Helpline and always 999 if you believe that life is in danger. Abusers who seek help can call Respect, a confidential helpline on 0808 8024040.
“We are so fortunate to live surrounded by beautiful countryside I encourage all of you to make the most of your surroundings and whilst keeping the appropriate distance from others, do get out for some fresh air every day.
“Thank you all for looking out for each other and supporting each other during these unusual times. We have received many positive messages of thanks for our officers who continue to do their very best to support residents and businesses these are all very much appreciated.”
